Looking for a kid-friendly, casual, less expensive restaurant nearby for dinner one night led us to Punk's Simple Southern Food. They are located in Rice Village at 5212 Morningside. They do take reservations on Open Table. You can find their website here:

This is their specialty and here's a description from their website: "
Punk’s sustainably sources local, cage free and hormone free chicken prepared in a 36-hour buttermilk brine, served with a buttermilk biscuit, honey butter, dill pickle, & Punk’s sauce"
The food was delicious; however, the service left a little to be desired. In the DFW area we have Babe's, which is one of our favorite restaurants. I would say Babe's wins the award on this one.
